Our Story
In April of 2005 Xpander Communications was founded as a pure VoIP service provider
by a previous co-founder of GMS Digital Corp, a traditional telecommunications
services company that operated the old fashioned way, installing hardware PBX
systems, provisioning local loop services, and making people sign contracts.
Identifying with the constraints and problems of traditional telephony, and building
off of the knowledge and experience of telecommunications as a whole, Xpander
Communications was born as a nationwide, no contract VoIP provider catering to only
business and enterprise customers. Xpander spent 2005 providing VoIP services and
listening to the customers about what features they most needed. Thanks to our open
source software development we were able to create the features they asked for,
on-demand, and perfect the system in real time so it would be flexible enough to
work in nearly any business or enterprise environment. Entering 2006 the company
was growing very successfully while heavily monitoring its customer retention rate.
Our goal became to maintain a year-round customer retention rate of 90% or better,

Xpander uses open source telephony software in pivotal places on our network. This
means we have the power to create new features, perform upgrades, and scale our
network any way that our clients ultimately deem necessary. We have complete control
over our applications, feature sets, redundancy, and architecture. We will be using
this great power to stay ahead of other providers and make our feature sets the
